Nah, on AS, not a member of that saw forum, yet...

Basically, as part of the 5 series XP saws, I would expect the new front-to-back transfers and crank stuffers, and spring not rubber AV mounts, all of which the saw lacks, as an ms241 competitor, stihl beats it.

The saw is slower than the last 40cc husky pro saw too, the 242xp, from the data I have, was 15.5k rpm, this is 14k

IMO the only benefit I can see is the removable transfer cover, to port it easier, trying to match the 242 speeds (maybe that IS what husky had in mind with the transfer covers on these saws), also I noticed on the ipl it has a piston pump!

Seldom find user reviews or owners comments about this rather new saw, introduced a year ago.

I have seen the 543XP(G) available in various shops, and was initially very interested in acquiring this being the lightest saw with heated handles on the market.

Have also been looking at it's nearest competitor, the Stihl MS241, but not interested in the Picco chain at all. So reconfigure it for .325" bar and chain will add to the cost and weight approaching a more general 50cc saw, so my interest in a 43cc halted here. A 550XP(G) suddenly seems a much better choice for our needs.

Still a lighter saw is of a big interest to us, but it seems I have to look into the 35cc to 40cc class of saws, for a more practical difference in weight. I have to accept the 3/8" LP chains, like 91VXL. I also have to give up on heated handles for this smaller class of saws.

I see you arrived at pretty much the same conclusion as I did, about the current breed pf 42/43cc pro saws.

The 550xp makes them more or less irrelevant, as they are at this point.

You don't have to accept them - use Stihl PS (Picco Super) - full chisel no bumpers.
