Oleo Mac chainsaws

I've worked on and used quite a few Efco/Oleo saws. Mostly 156/956 or 165/965s.

I have one on the bench at the moment (Efco 156), one in the parts bin and one just sold.

They're superb to work on, and personally I find them to be excellent firewood saws. Build quality is great. Spares can be had easily enough, albeit not as easily as Stihl(?!?)/Husq.

The cheaper, more plasticky ones have an excellent reputation and (I think I'm correct here at least) don't use a clam-shell design. The 152/952 in particular is supposed to be a bargain.

That's all I have!

Gardenkit, if you become a dealer, I guess spares will be even easier to track down!!

I am particularly interested in this thread as I am considering selling Efco saws.

Most of my saws are sold to domestic users or gardeners. I current stock the small Huskie 140. Its OK, but don't impress me much.

Also the Stihl MS181, which is an OK saw but domestic users can never start them.

The I sell the Mitox range, which sell on price, but virtually every one will come back with a small problem within the first 2 years.

What I need is a range of small to mid size saws that start easily, do exactly what they should and not be full of stupid niggly problems. They need to be well priced, but need not be the cheapest on the market.

Could Efco be the answer?

Certainly think it could Garden .

I have an Efco pole-pruner which has, so far, proved to be a good bit of kit. My local husky dealer does a lot of Efco and recommends them quite highly. I think mostly for the farmer/semi-pro market. I almost bought one a while back, but in the end I couldn't drag myself away from something orange.

I have a Dynamac DY41 saw from machine mart bought before Stihl and Husqvarna came out with home user saws and I read somewhere it is made by Efco.

The parent company is 'Emak'.

Dynamac, Olympyk, Efco, Oleo-Mac are variously used depending on where in the world you are (and maybe pro vs domestic?).

Efco seems most common here, whereas mainland Europe gets Oleo-Mac. USA seems to get both, probably depending on internal region.

For my money Oleo-Mac saws are more esthetically pleasing than Efco...
