Gnarly, the CWGC receives all its funding from central government not the poppy appeal; by all means dig deep for the poppy fund as their work is never done but please be aware that the poppy appeal runs all year round. I have first hand experience of the work the CWGC does as they maintain my fathers grave at Leeming in North Yorkshire where there is a small RAF section of the churchyard with a few of the simple Portland stone headstones.

thanks for posts will need to put it before the council as contracted by them to look after the cemetery. but now i have found them they will be looked after and not allowed to ever get overgrown again.

will let the council know re the war graves to see if we can get funding to put down colored gravel on top of geotex to stop the weeds coming back.

the rest of the military graves are in the main part and are kept tidy by me every other week.

need to get up to take photos and details as i am sure i saw two other family members with VC.s
