Don't try this at home...after cleaning out the air filter and replacing it, the very small lug at the seat of the carb decided to fall off and work its way through the carb, and dance like mad for a minute or two which resulted in this !!

How old is the saw?

I guess its out of warranty, as they have not been around for quite a time now.

If it is by any chance in warranty then put it in for a claim. I have had the same thing paid under warranty. Stihl are very fair despite posts to the contrary.

I bought 2 of them new earl last year just before the stock run out because of the 201t so it's literally been boxed since then, so had only been used for 2-3 weeks before it happened, so well out of warranty, I've rebuilt the top end now with an old pot and piston that still had lots of life in it. Piston in pic is obviously well shot ! , but I may get away with a little work to the pot and it should be good with a new piston....maybe :)

Not nice having to do a top end rebuild on a brand new saw !

Think you had one of these last year didn't you Barrie? Didn't some bright spark change the filter cover as well confusing what the route cause was:001_rolleyes:

Reasonably common issue, usually caused by not pushing hard enough on the screw and forcing it round!
