Homelite 944???

Any of you guys had any experience with one of these? I'm picking a great example up of an old gent next week, he's had it from new and only used it a few times, apart from a generous coat of dust she's brand new!

Check the fuel lines, and smell the fuel in tank, if its old it will be manky. If so the carb will need a good clean out aswell.

 

Don't know about the saw, just a techs advise.

Luckily the old boys background is garden machinery so he looks after them, he's got a serious collection of old school stihl's but this girl is just taking up space in his garage there serviced every year without fail it even comes with a box or sundries he reckons its a 1974 model? fired first pull and running a 32" bar, not sure of power but feels meatier than my ms460

I cant say I know the saw. You may struggle to get spares tho if you need any at any time.

It's not going to help you put it back together again but I like the original intention of the name. Charles Ferguson founded the Home Electric Lighting Company in Conneticut in 1921 - his aim...to make lightweight generators for home use.

Random! Hopefully I ain't gonna need to pull it apart anytime soon just love these old saws its nice to keep them in action

I have one, get a rim sprocket for it, get an 8t rim, undo the muffler, remove the spark arrestor and it'll roar and rip!

 

To get the age, remove the recoil plate, the date is stamped on the inside, mines a '72

You can't get new AV rubbers, air filters are like rocking horse crap, and Oregon have obsoleted some of the bars
