Outside of oven gets warm to touch, not burning hot. Only around mouth gets hot. Looks awesome when you fire it up and flames are licking out the mouth.

If I was to build one again, it would be cob all the way. Eco friendly, cheap as chips and looks amazingly organic when finished.

Thanks for the replies, fire bricks at £2.20 each are out, so muttley i like the sand and cob method, just need to get hold of the cob.

Check the tip my new place has storage heaters which are coming out in spring sure others do that

Hi rover, sorry but i just got hold of some cob. 3 phone calls and i found a chap 10 miles away who makes cob blocks for a living. Picked up 5 bags for free.
