I cut some green , living conifer 2 weeks ago . Just a single trunk . Cut it to log length and split it and put it on my log store roof . With this weather its ready now ! 15% on the gauge .......

I find it difficult to believe that the core moisture level is at 15%. Even at current temperatures and humidity levels, the water bound in the cells will not disperse that quickly.

Even if the surface moisture level is at 15%, I believe that the core levels will be much higher (30%+). Did you try to make a fresh cut and measure the moisture level in the freshly cut face?

I have just processed some 2" and 3" Spruce planks that I cut down in early March, and while the surface moisture levels are 14%, the core is at 22-27% still.

I measure mine by weight. During the present hot spell, logs on my wood pile in the sun are losing water at 1% per day. Currently at about 30%, so will likely tail off. Weird if could go from 45% to 15% in one month!

I just try to keep a big enough stock that anything cut since may is for next year so I'll worry about mc then. last years logs measuring between 9 and 12% on oak.
