Yep, I usually use HBS Ring in Inverness - they are very good as it happens, and have never had a problem with them.. I think it's the same guys in Elgin.

They use the Scottish School of Forestry for Assessments etc.

There is another on in Aberdeen, Mearns & Angus Services, but I have found them to be pretty expensive in comparison.

Mearns and Angus are training providers, I think they just sub everything out , so it's cheaper going to lads direct rather than giving m&a a cut.

Phone SSF they may have courses running about then.

hello all Just poping by

the lagal stance for age on using a chain saw is currently 'minimum school leaver age' right now that is 16.

but note those kids that started secondry school this year will not leave now untill they are 17, so in so unless the guidance is rewritten 2014 that age will jump to 17.

you may be aware that some kids do leave school earlier but they are under special training schemes and they officially do not leav full time ed untill 16

so answer yep at 16 he can train, as a note though MHASR will require the trainer to specifically concider his age in a risk assessment, and some training centers may ask for a ref before thay take him to assessess his maturity. another not for you as he is under 18 a copy of the risk assessment must be made availible to his parants/gaurduians should they wish to recive it.

you see peole think the up front bit of training is easy but the mire of all this stuff in the background makes me go gray.......

cheers all

as ever happy to help
