That looks a good idea

I have just ordered my first processor and the one thing that bothered me was all the little pieces that come off the splitter. I think when it arrives a little modification will be awaiting it.

I also like your bag sled using congregated sheets.

You will always get some smaller pieces in the bag, I use it as a selling point, ie, to use as kindling and smaller bits to put onto the kindling once going.

One thing bothers me about these filters, certainly on my folding elevator it would need taking off at the end of every session. Not an issue if your machine is set up permanently but another 15 mins on and 15 when taking off on the set up/ break down time.

I try and set my bag so that the logs get thrown a fair way into the bag, the light bits then tend to drop prior to the bag to be mainly caught by a well placed wheel barrow.

its held on with 4 bolts its a 90 second job to take it off, I put it on myself although the mat was added later which adds quite a weight.

the dross doesn't work as kindling for us when we experimented with filling the bags prior to the filter we had customers wanting refunds I lost 3 that I definitely know left because of it and if you get alot of the powdery stuff and mosses in the middle of the bag it works like a sponge and soaks up all the water if you dont get them covered straight away.

That sounds then a decent set up, does your processor not have slots under the splitter to get rid of the lot of the small crap?. It sounds like you were getting quite a bit of sawdust into the bag. My sawdust gets thrown out under the tractor and a good few chips fall out under the splitter chamber. Even though these slots are 25mm or so wide they still get blocked.

A piece of hessian sack would perhaps be a lighter mat, untill it got wet anyway !!.

Thanks for sharing.,
