Webbed lanyard

When learning to climb a year or two ago with some Aussie guys I used what I would call a webbed lanyard, although I believe they also called it a pole strop. Basically a length of nylon webbing with snap hooks at either end and an adjustable metal slider which enables the climber to lengthen/shorten as required when attached to a tree.

I trying to find one of these for sale on the internet but nowhere seems to ahve them, can anyone recommend where I could find such a thing?

Thanks

Might be OK on a pole, but on rough bark? It would wear quickly, be tricky to inspect (you have to remove the sleeve to see if it had been fitted to a worn strap). A buckle type adjuster might cut through under shock loading.

Surely it is more difficult to flip over a stub on a large diameter stem?

Do the Aussies use them because Eucs have smooth bark?
