What to rail workers do exactly?

Clear the line of fallen trees and overgrown trees? Just wondering as there seems to be a shortage of utility workers in the Midlands, where I am, and slightly better pay, would it be worth going into rail or utility compared to private arb?

There numerous things done on the rail pal,

Fence line clearance (clearing trees for a new fence line etc)

6m flail (clearing all the trees that are within 6m of the track)

DDD tree removal (removing dead, dying dangerous trees)

Clearing trees back to that are withing falling distance of the track.

Public complaints (cutting back trees encroaching gardens highways etc)

The above is some, not all of the de-veg tasks on track.

It's completely different to domestic arb, you won't be carrying out nice little dead woods or crown thins, it's clear from this point to the next if its within 6ms etc.

I find its better money than domestic, with alot more overtime. Plus you don't have to do any of the crappy cleanups u have to do in domestics. Or loads of dragging/dog s*it dodging!
