Ah I think you mean the slabbing brackets.

 

 

I tend to use a ladder still for the first cut...

 

 

But otherwise some 4" index type screws work well.

Turbo coach screw with makita impact drive, quick and easy to install, but only put the at the ends of the log or you end up with holes in the beam your cutting

Comes with some double headed nails. I'm talking about fixing the guide board to the log. Not the rails to the guide board.

Ah, see what you mean! quality screws does the job especially if you use an impact driver.
