Theres more non-variety Larix spp...

My 14th was Larix x eurolepis (Dunkeld Larch) :D

In 1885 the Duke of Atholl planted eleven Japanese Larch together and then one with two European Larch nearby. This was near Dunkeld House on his estate. Seed was collected and planted and in 1904 it was noticed that young plants were exceptionally vigorous with paler shoots. The Hybrid Larch is sometimes known as Dunkeld Larch because of these origins.

on a sort of off thread chatting about monky puzzels loosing their leaves

 

the year i took my PD arb at builie we were shown a great monky puzel to look at and comment on, luckily i had seen cones on one before alas many people put it was dying and some put it was loosing its leafs.....

 

this thread just made me think of that that and how pants i am at plant id
