Yeah cheers David. Even if you don't have a place for a volunteer, it would be fun to meet up and follow you round at work for a day. I'm sure I would learn a thing or two.

Went searching for my first Laetiporus of the year, and took a stroll into Kenwoods Sssi south wood.

 

Within are fantastic Oaks & Beech, which give it the designation.

 

But this young un caught my attention.

 

really interesting bark texture for Beech.

Piptoporus quercinus eh

 

might just have to go have a looksee if I'm ever in the area.

 

Bit early yet, as it usually emerges mid to late summer & as far as I can make out doesn't fruit every single year.

 

 

 

thought for a nano second, that I may have been in for a shout of ownership of the woods.......
