I walked past that very tree last saturday morning, i saw it from the side without the reiterative roots and gutted i missed that! great example and thanks for letting me know where it is!

 

thats a good snatch for the folio, best get back off to kew soon as!

 

According to Tony Kirkham they are not reiterative roots but were grafted on to an area where the bark was damaged:001_huh:. Just to clarify the first picture is a different tree to the second two.:thumbup1:

Root grafts are impressive Bender, thanks for posting.

 

 

Impresssive branch canker on this Beech.

It's increased in size considerably since the branch was cut.

I'm sure he explained it in a lot more detail. But there was so much knowledge to guy had to impart in such a short space of time my sponge brain became rapidly saturated!:blushing: Looks cool though 'duuuuh'
