Have only been climbing since November so not masses of experience but I moved to hc and vt pretty quickly and can't fault it, been using Marlow friction chord which is cheap to put it bluntly but I get on with it really well and very rarely doesn't grab when I sit back, thing I like the most about the vt is that with sufficient rope weight you can just overhand pull the rope down and through the hitch removing the need to tend slack making ascending and returning from a limb walk a doddle which for a novice such as my self is perfect.

Good to hear you've settled very quickly , where as I'm still unsure, going to take on board many comments and try the Knut and trial a few different cords, must admit I do like the fluidity of vt

One thing I did notice was going from 13mm to 11.5mm , only a few ml difference but noticeable different to grip

i been climbing 8yrs and still messing round with different Vt's and hitches, i dont think it will ever stop as new ropes come out and spiderjack/lockjack and ZigZag are no way near as good.

best for grip bro, is good pair gloves, Showa are pretty good and reasonable priced.

Yeah good gloves essential, didnt really use them before with blakes/Prusik as they seem to get caught in knot , hc dosnt seem to , tried pantin on last climb helps but nothing feels natural yet , as expected but will perceiver
