Been climbing for 10 year, for no particular reason i fancy trying the hitch climber, done several climbs just recreational and few low dismantles, the vt grips almost every time, just occasionally it doesn't grip , just would like to know if its right

The legs are likely a tad too long which is why its slipping. Thats the problem with sewn eyes. You could try tying in a different configuration to try and use up a bit more of the cord.

Cheers Steve

Thought they were too long, would you say say more wraps or more braids?

Personally I like the neatness of e2e instead of a fishermans , need to find smaller e2e possibly

I would ditch that cord and get something else, without eyes, like Yale silverstreak... Fishermans on either end, then you can adjust length if necessary... looks like the legs are solid on yours... that wont help you out.

What you mean solid , stiff !

Would that not help to reduce sit back , excuse me if I'm wrong , I'm not very bright I just lift heavy things

meaning you have about 4" of cord there that is stiff due to the splice. Don't understand the obsession people have with the cord looking 'tidy'. Fishermans is more efficient and a damn sight cheaper!

No ones seems to have mentioned thats its perfeclty normal to have to set the hitch a bit before you sit back on it. Just ease it up the rope as you put your weight into it and it should grip ok. If course you would hope tha tit grips on it own if you really fell into it, and it should do so, its just the slow application of your weight that it sometimes doesnt like.

I am using e2e at the moment for the first time ever!! I splashed out some ££! Really liking it, 90cm 10mm OP tied with a knut, perfect. And no hockles in my rope like I was getting with the VT.
