Need to get my first pair of chainsaw boots. Started working recently, just learning the trade and most of my time will be spent dragging brash and chipping stuff although I climbed my first tree to hook up the winch the other day which was awesome. Want a pair of boots that I will be happy to walk all day in. Limited for choice due to having size 15 feet.

Looked at a few pairs online and can get the Pfanner Tirol Fighters off the shelf in my size but not so keen on them as they don't look great for walking lots in. Emailed FR Jones and they said they can special order Pfanner Zermatt boots but that's 300quid and a 8 week wait.

My other option is Meindl Waldlaufer boots which are my cheapest option, FRJones has them in stock in my size and I think they seem most fit for my purpose, anyone use these? They any good? (Think Meindl will also make the airstream for me as a special order but not sure they will be any better and will cost more and I have to wait again.)

I wear Oregon waipoua boots. For the price they are fantastic. Brought them summer last year. And they are still going strong and I wear them almost all the time.

Looks a good boot and 60 quid cheaper than the Waldlaufer. Shame that they're only available up to a eur size 48.

Funny that I'm a size 13uk. Jonsie didn't have them in when I ordered, they turned up at my house 3 days later. Can't argue with that one.

Meindl specialise in walking boots etc...

Oregon are good for files/chains. They might be £60 pound more but you get wot you pay for. Each to their own tho.
