Urm. Not sure. Has the oil level dropped in engine. Does it run ok? Does it start ok in morning.

If the rings had gone oil would be burnt through exhaust on running. If it was a lot of oil it should show from sump.

Land rover don't leak oil they just mark there territory.

Could be turbo issue.

Nope, any oil that goes into the exhaust will burn or oil the exhaust but that's nothing to do with oil in the air box, the two aren't connected, what's happening is the engine is pressurising the sump and forcing aspirated oil up the breather, if enough of it gets into the air intake it can start running on its own oil and that's a recipe for self destruction

What I meant. Does anyone know I'm crap at explaining things yet?

The comment over the rings was aimed at just the worn rings. If the rings had gone the oil would burn out exhaust not go through air filter.

Forget the exhaust, its the wrong side of the rings, the worn rings are allowing combustion gasses into the crank case where they pick up oil and exit through the crank case breather which leads to the air box, early 200 tdi's were famous for running on their own oil.

Sounds about right, had oil breather pipes off and it's pushing through hard, does run very lumpy for first few minutes, bluish smoke, so burnin some also , how long till it goes bang!?

How long is a piece of string

Run the breather into the chassis rail, its a bit late to prevent rot but it will mean your engine wont run on its own oil.

One I did that to as a young car has a perfect chassis
