Cyanide doesn't really affect plants, but the heat breaks cyanide down, I've burnt plenty of rhody and I am still alive, so it won't be a problem, it doesn't contain much

I think someone may have got laurel and rhodo mixed up re. the cyanide. I'd use any wood ash.
