pitch pine?

Some info;

Thuja, More commonly known as Western red cedar. One of the brilliant softwoods grown in the forestry world. Light, completely rot proof and structurally up at the top end of the scale with Douglas fir. Downside is the processing plants give it a knock as their peelers don't like the bark as it is very stringy. Bee hives are a common product made from this.

Moroccan Thuya is not the same though, that really confused me for a while.

Heavy dense wood full of burls but smells the same.

Is pitch pine the same as 'Oregon' pine??

got my hands on 4 large pitch pine beams out of an old warehouse in Gloucester docks and used them to good effect on the house renovation. Really nice colour and grain once the paint and resin etc was cleaned off.

if there isnt any pitch pine trees about in the uk anymore there must of been at some point, surley? nearly every chapel ive seen is full of pitch pine, and i love the stuff! they must of used it as it was readly avaliable throughout the uk, it would have been very very expencive to inport back then.
