HitchClimber Friction hitch system - HELP

Hi,

 

Want to buy myself the DMM - HitchClimber Friction Hitch System.

 

I'm climbing on 13mm Yale XTC+

 

I'm assuming I want the 10mm friction cord if I am using it on a 13mm rope?

 

Or am in wrong?

 

Also what are people's thoughts on the honey bro's price. (link below)

The eye2eye is too long i have found. Around 70cm is alot better.

Also, just buy a bit of cord and tie fishermans knot instead, much cheaper!

No I imagine he means 70cm once tied as the fisherman knots use more line than you would think, cord is sold by the meter for me 3m is enough for 2 hitches.

 

As for size of cord it's a personal preference, I find 8mm grabs very positively it can bind tight though with some hitches. I use 10mm on 11.5mm line I find it breaks (release the friction) easier and doesn't burn my fingers so much. If you can buy 3m of 10mm and 8mm of the same cord and experiment it'll probably cost the same as an eye to eye hitch anyway and give you enough to make 4 lengths to play with.

Iv heard funny stories about ocean polyester and various climbing line combinations. I've found the green 8mm armor is pretty much unbeatable, but not tested to every countries safety standards (doesn't have a uk en rating). Honey bros sell an 80cm e2e.

 

I have a feeling stein have just rebranded and recoloured armor prus. They are selling theirs for 25 plus vat. Hope this helps

I use Yale 13mm xtc with 8mm armor prus which works well. I use 8mm ocean poly on my short line but I prefer the armor prus.

Cheers for all the advice, ordered the DMM hitch climber rapide pulley, couple of DMM oval krabs and 3m of 8mm armor prus cord. Will see how I get on with the cord to start with. After 5 years of climbing on a basic prussick I think it was time I tried something new haha!

I use 13mm yale xtc magma ice for my main climbing line

with 10 mm beal prusik regate hitch cord ,tied with double fishermans termination on a DMM hitch climber pulley using a knut friction hitch works well .

What stories are they

 

I used ocean 10mm for years on a variety of lines over 5 types off the top of my head. but they changed it not sure what they did now it just doesn't last I like to get a good couple of weeks climbing out a hitch at least.

Liking the armour prus again 10mm, 8mm always seems to get hot or bind tight for me and before you say it I'm slim at around 13st I think it's just a personal thing.

Anyway armour prus I can get a month out of its good cord.
