Seems I jumped the gun a little. I discovered exactly what you had said. I managed to tidy it up a bit. just re-wrapped with tape, cut with a sharp knife, a little heat and then a dab of waterproof super-glue to seal the end up a bit better.

Just received my bits from honey bro's. Here's a good one, I ordered the armor prus 8mm in a 3m length. they sent me 2 meters with a note saying they will send me another meter when it's back in stock. I guess they forgot to question whether I would be cutting it into two 1.5m lengths haha. I rang them up and they agreed to send me another 2 meters. Also they haven't done a very good job of cutting it to size. looks more like they have wrapped a bit of tape round and cut it with a hack saw. I would have expected them to have at least used a heated rope cutter. Or am I just been fussy here? Anyway looking forward to giving it a go this week.

Cheers for the links to the knots. Yea I plan to give the 10mm a go as well just to see which I prefer. I'm the same weight so I'll see how it fares. Cheers again.

Cheers for all the advice, ordered the DMM hitch climber rapide pulley, couple of DMM oval krabs and 3m of 8mm armor prus cord. Will see how I get on with the cord to start with. After 5 years of climbing on a basic prussick I think it was time I tried something new haha!

So you recommend 70cm's of cord and then tie a fisherman's in each end? any advice on 8mm or 10mm cord for a 13mm rope. cheers.

Hi, Want to buy myself the DMM - HitchClimber Friction Hitch System. I'm climbing on 13mm Yale XTC+ I'm assuming I want the 10mm friction cord if I am using it on a 13mm rope? Or am in wrong? Just being looking into this myself. I spoke to someone from the national insurance contributions office earlier today. You just have to give them a ring when you start working and declare self employed/employed. Obviously you're already paying NI through your employment so, your national insurance contributions don't start until you earn over 5725 I believe and then it worked out at something like 2.40 a week on the basic band. don't take all of this as gospel. here's a more useful page to read.. HI guys, New to the forum so please forgive me if i've missed a sticky or previous thread on this. I'm just looking for some tips and advice on going self employed and climbing/working for other people. Just a bit of background info. I'm 22. I have being climbing for about five years now, and really enjoy it. Own climbing kit and MS201T (amongst other bits and pieces). I've being working for the same company pretty much since I started (and still enjoy working for them). But now due to only getting three - four days a week I've decided I would like to top up my working week by working for different people. Some of my questions may seem daft but I'm struggling to find straight answers on the subject. What is the best way to go about it? I will still be employed by the company I currently work for. So can I be self-employed and Employed at the same time? Do I need to get my own liability insurance when I work for others? Any tips and advice would be much appreciated.
