Hi,

I am looking to see if anyone has any examples of using this in a rigging setup?

Basically I would like to lift branches/timber once they are still suspended in the rigging system without the use of a mechanically assisted portawrap. Anyway any help would be great, pics would be better!

Thanks chris

Fiddle blocks, as youve surmised, are used to lift, we dont normally do a lot of lifting, we mainly drop, so they dont see much use arboring.

Not too mention they are fiddly to use...lol.

Why do you need to lift a branch up once youve cut it, generally you rarely, rarely need to do this, once in a great while, so if you see yourself doiing this all the time, perhaps you need to rethink your plan of attack.

Tree work is most efficient when you are using gravity to your advantage, dont fight it, go with it.

If you have a job where you need to lift a lot of the wood, sometimes we do get jobs that require this, as rare as it is, a GRCS would be the better investment by mile and a half.

We used a fiddle block system on a Macrocarpa removal last year, the tree was leaning low over a block of 4 or 5 garages, after setting up we tip roped the limbs and pulled them up and over and into our limited drop zone, one of the problems with fiddle blocks though, is that you can run out of pull.
