looks more like a 281 to me with the metal chainbrake and that exhaust, could be wrong tho

The 61 had the mech brake to It could be tho but I'd bank more on a 61

Is the plate still on it??? that'll tell you can't remember where it on a 61 but on the 281 it should be just below the oil cap

It's not a 50 the starter casing not the same and the wrong color (well at least not the 50 I know anyhow) If it not a 61 or 281 It could be a 266 lol but I'd really go for the 61 or 281

Does the 61 starter case fit on a 281?

I have one in bits the looks very similar ? But it has heated handles did they make o heated handle model or do I have something different ?

They might have but the 61 was an early saw........it could be ya got a later model as the rancher name (it was tagged to some of the 61's) has been used on other models too ......but I maybe totally wrong .....spud might know better as to if they heated some of the 61's

I thought heated handles went with professional saws, could it be a 162? Heated handles had a G suffix on later models.

I never did figure out what it was that made the farmer or rancher saws different from the professional models with what appeared to be that same engine.
