Igland 3000 double drum

Hi Luftwaffe, I paid close attention to the pto when winching and it didn't slow at all, even when I gave it more revs it didn't want to pull any more. It's as if there is no clutch at all once under full load but tension remains on the drum!

Have you tried putting the winch on another tractor? if the winch pulls ok on a different tractor that shows the problem is not with the winch but with the PTO shaft on the original tractor, just have a look at the pto shaft on the tractor the winch is on now and look to see if the pto shaft slows down when making the winch work under load,( take care with not to get tangled with the shaft if you have to get remove the pto guards) if you notice the shafts slowing down that indicates a worn pto pack and will need replacing.

 

HI LUFT we had that PTO CLUCH GONE ON TRACTOR or going ive just looked at data on 11m rope 55mt out from a 100mt drum the winch will only pull 3.25 ton s so 2,25 ton down on power from a 95mt out it will pull 5.5tons if all working good thanks all data from igland site thanks jon

I'm 95% sure the problem is with the clutch, if the clutch needs replacing after its been adjusted to the max adjustment have the clutchplate relined, i use a company in Telford called 'SAFTEK UK' for about £75.... good luck.

Another thing that it could be (if its a manual winch) is the leaver isn't coming over to engage the drive. Also another option is the shaft that the drum slides on is corroded and it's sticking. Had that happen.

 

Either way i think you have to take the winch apart.

My experience is older iglands and They're very simple so if tractor pto not losing power then suspect your clutch is not simply not engaging enough and needs adjustment (or replaced).

 

Try adjustment* first but if no luck then Take the drum off and work clutch action being careful not to overextend anything and pop seals etc. should be about 10mm travel max and clutch plate should have about 5mm feroda on drum side. Clutch sits on metal hub on shaft with three pins, the clutch slides along these pins when engaged and three small metal spring plates pull it back off when clutch disengaged.

 

*bear in mind too much adjustment is as bad as too little as it will snatch and try pull continuously

 

- edit, I'm assuming that under the skin old and new iglands are the same
