I don't quite understand the following bit:

You "won" a rubbish saw, then when you collected it it was in bits and then wouldn't run right, and you still paid for it?

 

Tell eBay it's shite, make them take it back! Then keep saving some money and buy a half-decent saw. (A good silky is a very good investment)

The thread ya started elsewhere buddy bout fuel mix .......is this the saw your talking about??? ...........If it is then it not a Homelite lol it part of the Mac family......but honestly if it got probs file it

Mate you got it for 26quid for a reason , life's far to short bin it . As for ppe I never start a saw without it , nearly lost a kneecap and because of that I always put break on.

I am guessing your saw looks something like this - Model Profile: F55

 

And isn't one of those McCulloch clone bitches - OK saws if they are running but scrap if not!

 

The problem you have is that the saws are a bit rare - originally made in Sweden and believe at the same place as Husqvarna. I do have an old Partner in the collection - get a photo up of the part and if it has a part code - something like 503 XX XX-XX then lets have that - the part may correspond with another old more popular Husky.
