Photo from the top of a 30m Swamp Cypress (Taxodium Distichum) in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Tree was in a public space in Notcutts Garden Centre. Nice view of the River Deben in the background and the Cherry Tree pub in the fore. Great pint of Adnams there.

I didn't realise Suffolk was on the coast

In my student days a friend of mine lived just there while working at Notcutts on his sandwich year.

I used to catch the train up from Kent (where I was working) and the pair of us would get completely wasted in that very pub.

Did a lot of tree work at Nottcutts when I worked for Eastwoods many moons ago now. Great shot cuttermutter.Suffolk is the most beautiful county in this country, and the sun shines a lot. Don't call us the Sunshine Coast for nothing

Andy.....agree with you about the county. But I guess all rural folk like their own patch. As you can see it was last Thursday when the photo was taken, so not sunny like today. Stephen...didnt even notice the horse/lolipop peops so good spot. And yes it is on the coast.

Also, the Whistlestop Cafe, just down the road next to Woodbridge railway station does one of the best fry ups I've ever had, and trust me I've had a few!

Nice to see some pics from back home. I used to work at notcutts in wickham market many years ago.

 

Re: most beautiful county - gotta be Somerset I'm afraid, and I have lived in rural Suffolk for 25 years. The old houses are the nicest in Suffolk though - I miss seeing thatched cottages everywhere!

Alex - Know what you mean about Somerset. Actually although I love Suffolk I think the water does let us down. Brown rather than clear/blue down your way.

Well the Somerset coast/water isn't the best - they don't call it Weston super mud for no reason

At least Cornwall/Devon/Dorset coasts are only 2 hrs away!
