Was going to buy one of these-this has put me right off.

I can understand the concern and it may be prudent to hold off buying one until Petzl release there final results on Tuesday 23rd April.

We are still climbing with one and using a Beal pinch to keep the carabiner secure.

We are also sending a Beal pinch out FOC to customers who have already bought a zigzag from us and are giving one away free with every zigzag purchase.

It will be interesting to see the results as they have tried side loading the zigzag as per the information from the accident but havent been able to replicate the failure.

Thats not hard to sort then. Some rubber gromit s to hold the carabiner in place either side of the zig zag upper. Should hold the carabiner when not loaded aswell.

Or just do as requested and stop climbing on the device until you hear more from the manufacturer.

Lyon the Uk Petzl distributors have now issued the recall of the zigzag.

There will be a pack on how to claim for a refund.

We will post more details later today.

Yep that seems wise there seemed to be a too many " It Can " or "may have" in the original statement for some peoples personal satisfaction / comfort , as if an " it can " happened when its stopping the thing stopping you from hitting the deck, especially when you might not want it too..
