Got to the top of this old ash

 

 

And my work colleague found this whilst setting up the portawrap

 

 

It reaches 4.5 ft into the trunk and goes down at least 5ft

 

 

I don't know how far up it goes so we are gonna take all the weight of it .. Shame nice big old ash in its twilight days in the wrong place but taking the weight off it might gain it a few more years

Sure would make a great old pollard in years to come, and only goes to show what Ivy can hide!

Im all for the odd bit of ivy on a tree but that ash was screaming out to be freed, nice job and well done for giving the old girl a chance

Gonna pollard it next weekend, got my gopro3 charged and ready for action. The chap at the house has a couple of log burners so he's going to be warm next year :-)
