Im guessing thats aimed at me mike! Theres some definate hotties at the cheltenham one and I guess the surrey one would be yummy mummy central!! Theres a particualr blonde that I always run behind (as shes at my pace!)

But the ages would vary along with fitness! (all types of fitness) but weather you could pull at parkrun depends on you!

Well done! And good for you. Yes it is cool, being free makes it even better!

298 is a big turnout!!!

Looking at the historical results for Brighton it was actually quite a bit down on the average. Normally well over 300, and often over 400!

Anyone here doing park run?

If you dont know about it, its basically a free 5k run event every saturday, 9am, at about 200 locations around the country.

You register online, turn up and run and get scanned at the end. Your time is then texted to you, and an email follows giving your position overall and with your age group etc.

Have a look here for your nearest event. parkrun UK

The one here in cheltenhma has only been going 5 or 6 weeks so they are quite new and I'm sure more will be starting around the country every week.

Its a good start to a weekend, 5k is not too hard.

If anyone is doing it then we could have an arbtalk leader board.

I'll start with my PB last week which was 22.54

Ha, Rupe! I hope you know what you are responsible for.

I have been toying with getting into a little light running for a couple of years.

I signed up last night, follow yours and Chunkymunky's lead.

The plan is to have a stab at the Eastbourne event this Saturday.

Regardless of my time, I am at least bound to get a PB (I may pass on posting the time up though)

Did my first park run today. Came 234 out of 298 with a time of 28.55

As a life-long dedicated non-runner I was very happy with that. I didn't even hate it and actually might go next week and see if I can beat it.

Park run is very cool - as friendly and non intimidating as you could ever wish, superbly run, and free. Thanks for the heads up rupe!

John, Just how dedicated a non runner are you? I havent done any running since I left school in '87 (in fact I didn't run whilst I was at school either). Do you think I should get a little training in during the week? :-)

Possibly I should pick up a pair of trainers......

Good on you! You dont need to train for parkrun, it is training for people who might not be motivated otherwise, it makes you feel part of something which is good.

you wont come last! And your frst event is training for the next and so on.

Kind words :001_smile:....

I have done a short jog this evening in the East Sussex rain.

According to google maps it was 2.6 miles (just over 4k i guess).

I borrowed a pair of trainers from my wife (black and pink, hmmmm)

Did a time of 27 mins (which was better than I was expecting).

Probably need to get my own shoes (i wonder which type - do you reckon they have the equivalent of Stihl Vs Husky threads for trainers on running forums?)

I'm sure they do!!!

That distance is fine to start with. Avoiding injury is key, otherwise you defeat the point! See how you feel tomorrow and if stiff and achey then net that pass before going again and jeep the distance down until it doesnt ache the next day.

Oh, pretty dedicated. I've always hated it.

I'm sure you'll be fine (although I was hobbling around a bit today). Trainers would definitely be better than chainsaw boots!

I did my first Parkrun in January this year after threatening to go the last 2 years. Before last Saturdays Parkrun I had a few beers, a ruby (Jalfrezi, Madras, and Vindaloo), and 4 hours kip, at the finish I grabbed my bar code and carried on running straight to the Khazi...never again no wonder I put in a good time!:thumbup1:
