Anyone here doing park run?

If you dont know about it, its basically a free 5k run event every saturday, 9am, at about 200 locations around the country.

You register online, turn up and run and get scanned at the end. Your time is then texted to you, and an email follows giving your position overall and with your age group etc.

Have a look here for your nearest event. parkrun UK

The one here in cheltenhma has only been going 5 or 6 weeks so they are quite new and I'm sure more will be starting around the country every week.

Its a good start to a weekend, 5k is not too hard.

If anyone is doing it then we could have an arbtalk leader board.

I'll start with my PB last week which was 22.54

Yo,

I have one of these at the park I manage in Havant. They started about a year ago with around 40 runners and now they are hitting 170 a week. Proper carnage. Not run it myself yet, always seem to be arm-deep in toilets or getting harassed by fishermen. I'll run it one day though!

Yeah. I do it at worcester (cept today cos i overslept) bout 150people there sometimes. All different levels of fitness. Some really fast. After 50events you get a good addidas running top. All free. I volunteer once a month too. Really good. Recommend it to anyone wanting to get a lil boost

I fancy the idea of it, just don't fancy the hustle and bustle of it all

It's not like that really. You just turn up and get on the start line for 9am (8.58) and run. No signing in or faffing with race numbers. At the end you go up to a marshal show your barcode (which you get online ) and get scanned and go home. Avoid the hustle by running fast enough to stay at the front.

As its designed to get people out and running, rather than for athletes, you really wouldnt want to be at the back!!

We do three laps round the park and by the second time round I'm lapping some fatties in leggins!!
