Is the only difference between the regular 660 and the Magnum just the muffler? And is there much noticeable difference when using? I've done a bit of research on mediacat on it it's the only difference in parts I can see. If so does anyone no where I can get a muffler? Stihl won't supply to uk. Cheers.

Stihl UK do supply dual port mufflers - I have one. Ask a dealer to get you one. You only need to buy the front cover as you can cut out the internals yourself.

There is quite a noticable power increase making it a worthwhile IMO as your saw will also run cooler as well

You MUST richen up the carb however or you will kill the saw!!

There are (or at least were) two versions of the crankshaft. The one specified as heavy duty was the original fitting to the US spec 066 Magnum. This again was available about 8yrs ago in the UK, using the part number.

If you have part list any dealer should be able to get it for you. If you go twin muffler I would recommend bigger chain break as standard one gets restricted and will start to melt as sits on corner of exhaust. First thing you should upgrade on 660 is air filter IMO.

hi samarb, what air filter do you recommend? k&n? (do they do air filters for saws?) if you change the air filter do you need to adjust the carb? does the magnum exhaust cover have more or less detrimental effect on the chain brake (having already melted one milling), thanks rick

Hi this is what i run, got it from stilh. if you get parts manual online you it is on there, i also got pre filter which makes on site clening easier. the magnum handle is longer but sits a bit higher up than the standard one.
