Urgent help needed.......

your propshaft may not be buggered, could just be the propshaft bearings which alot cheaper than the entire propshaft being screwed. Ive never known it to effect the steering or feel vibration through the steering though.

 

The more i think on it, the more i less suspect it to be the propshaft.

 

Could even be sludge on the prop sending it out of balance, more likely mud in the wheel rim

There is still some mud on the inside of the front wheels, if i've washed it off unevenly then it all makes sense. If it is the front prop i'm buggered as 2002 03 Discos don't have CD lock fitted lol

We'll see tomorrow Dean, i did give them a good blast out there's not much there. But then i guess when you consider how small the weights are they put on to balance the wheels it wouldn't take much to cause issues.

I just never wash mine so never have that problem

It sounds like a prop to me too, I think the disco2 has a couble cardan joint unlike the defender, but I'm not sure. If it is a collapsed bearing on the one of the UJ's they can soldier on a bit so you've probably got little bit of time. I dont suppose you noticed any squealing / screeching before hand? they can do that before they collapse.

 

On a defender it only takes about an hour to change a UJ, a disco should'nt be too much worse.

dont know if you land rover guys want a suggestion off a navara owner, but had very similar symptoms the other day,turned out that a balancing weight had come off the prop, had it re balanced right as rain.

Could be sludge Dean, but if the bearing has disintergrated it could off balance the prop and thats where your getting the vibration from.?!
