Are you still using this method Bob?

I picked up a turntable pallet wrapper last year, am hoping to load with net wrap to achieve the same results, haven't had chance to play yet. Though it does a great job of wrapping pallets of kindling in the conventional manner!

I've got one of the 1490lt black plastic juice drums I am going to cut about to make a bin from but think I may struggle to lift the liner/bin away from the wrapped log pack due to not being able to remove it gradually as the netting goes on and also I think achieving a truly vertical lift with a tractor loader my be problematic. Am thinking it may be worth setting up a block and tackle or hoist or similar to lift the liner/bin vertically off the pack, this would also eliminate the issue of suspected lack of lift height on the loader.

Have you had any other issue with your set up that would be worth mentioning? :001_smile:

I use a plastic 1500l drum and it works well. Problem I had with standard block and tackle was it had to be put so high up to give the necessary clearance, it was a pain to pull through... and slow. Switched to using telehandler to lift it clear which makes life easier. It might work fine just with ordinary pulley above the drum, but I'd consider redirecting the rope so you don't have to stand right next to the pallet.

As we just wrap the logs manually as drum is being lifted - I got hold of mini baler wrap (600mm x 1400m) as it's a fair bit easier to handle than standard net wrap. But you might not have this problem with a pallet wrapper.

Other issues I have - plastic drum now starting to lose shape. Might stick a steel band round it to keep it more rigid. Also it bounces around a bit when you first start filling, so need to remember to re-position it on pallet as you go... before you find it's hanging over edges and too heavy to shift back.

yep, going well.

most logs went out at 16-18%

last 100t cut june july went out at 18-22%

stack em too close and sycamore still moulds.

1t 2m3 on a pallet.

use timber crane to pull bins off.

do a you tube search for posch pakfix and all your questions will be answered.

to add

with increased demand for proper dry logs, kilning seems to be the way to go. forget the have a go harrys quality always sells. qute a few people are having to replace their liners after a couple of years burning wet logs and coke.

short term saving,,long term cost. well freds are at 45 or 50 a bag, or even 70/80£ in sheffield. well they said they were seasoned, or 20%.. dreamers.
