I have been careful to word it as "trained" :sneaky2:

I don't believe someone with no knowledge whatsoever, can without breaking the law, take a chainsaw to a tree thats within fall distance of a public area, indeed within a public area and proceed to fell that tree.

You only have to look at you tube to see the results and close calls.

Now I did exactly that when I first attempted tree work 20 years ago, I got a ladder, some rope, climbed 40ft up a tree and proceed to drop large limbs off tied with the rope over a busy road on a blind bend.

When I think back at what I used to do it fills me with horror that I actually got away with not injuring either myself or a member of the public.

I know many of us started out this way and have since gone on to get some qualifications and obviously experience. The registration is no good if it is not made illegal for such people carrying out what I did and putting the public in danger

as for loler inspections i feel i could discuss this issue till i'm blue in the face,

Maybe you could, but I would prefer to have answers to questions which trained loler inspectors should be able to answer, rather than create new ones.

The AA has hardly any teeth in the industrial sector never mind the domestic market, and no one ever will.

We arent taken as professionals although it takes at least 5 years to get there.

Pissing into the wind springs to mind
