Well it's on every branch being a squirrel that's one big toothed mama of a squirrel I did think about that but it also has black exudates coming from the stem which are oozing so that is why I put it on here just thought it could be blight

Definately looks like physical/mechanical damage to me.

In the last pic the background looks like a banking or something that has been dug out or graded in the past? are you sure this tree hasnt been beaten up with a digger?

I was thinking the same myself, looks to be on the edge of a pond or lake, man made?

Anthracnose on Willow can persist for many years, early diagnosis can be made from the foliage, with spots showing on leaves and shoots, also stress caused by it, can cause shoots to develop on stems, advanced ,the tree will begin to loose bark and can at the same time show signs of recovery, but if its got it then there is no practical cure, another indicator can be if you tap lightly around the trunk even on what you think is healthy bark you can normally hear it to be slightly lifting. On ones i have seen its been very much like the images shown. Any pruning you are proposing to do will only finish the tree off, it may try to recover for another year but then you will find its died. Very common on these trees.

Looks mechanical damage to me, disease wouldn't have healed like that, also you have straight-peeled bark left on one injury, it's either squirrel, a 360, or some heavy object used to bash it
