Maybe attitudes different in france, children are less pampered or cared for in what would be in the UK thought of as a old fashioned way, depending on your what your view point is.

 

I reckon there are cultural norms that change over time, & they can also vary alot between countries about what is deemed the right way to do things.

 

For example:

Yes, I read that BBC article too.

Won't get a Frenchy doing that!

Well, I may be a hard nosed bustard but the French ARE obsessed with health care.

(Lord knows they pay enough towards it)

And many ex-pats who live and work here recognise a far greater prelevence towards hypochondria than the British.

A visit to the doctor results in 3-5 lots of pills! Pills for the problem, pills to hide the taste of the pills, pills to hide the effects of too many pills, pills for luck and ALWAYS pills that don't seem relevant to the actual problem...
