hi guy's my mate has given me his bolens ride on mower which he say's has a good engine and goes well until you engage the cutter then it conk's out would anybody on here have any ideas what could be wrong with it ? Thank's in advance graham :thumbup1:

has it got electric clutch if so check this also check the battery as a bad battery can stall a engine with electric clutch. If not then check the belt pulleys / blade spindles to make shore they are not stuck sounds like something is rusted solid if it stalls the engine

Could the deck be jammed? check blades turn freely. Also check safety switch on deck engagement and grass box.

It may be that there is a microswitch that senses whether it is either in gear or whether the operator is on the seat. If this is faulty it could cut out. I am not for one moment saying that you should do this but if you bypass the switch and it no longer cuts out when the cutters were engaged then it would prove it was a faulty switch.
