That's encouraging... think it will be for the best in the long run.

I had guys coming out to labour a couple of weeks ago that were wanting £120 a day!! And that's with me supplying all the kit and PPE.

I don't even earn that myself some days...so it's deffinatley not an option for labouring.

I'm based in Somerset, the problem i have is soon as i tell them it's manual labor they dont turn up. I'm glad i'm not the only one having problems staffing. I will put up an add, i think an arb stundent will be benificial.

Bit far away for me mate, im in Northants would have to do digs and dont think my misus and daughter would like that to much!!!!!!!! Gave that up awhile ago needed to be with my family more, hope you solve your labour probs soon.:001_smile:

£120per day is metal. farting higher than their arses i think. It seems that nobody can rubbish the work of foreign workers though which kinda fills me with shame at the british work ethic (present company excluded).

I pay £5ph but pay bonus if hard working, i allow £50 pppd. I suply all equipment including helment and hi vis just require steel toe boots (and packed lunch), if used own kit may pay more.

Not being nasty but i think you might have a big problem getting decent workers for that money imho.

Could or would YOU work for that money?.

Just my personal opinion.

i know what you mean and no i wouldn't work for that but I dont like paying to much for new staff as if it doesn't work out i end up losing to much, but if the right guys come on i would do all i can to keep them, and generaly we start at 9 and are finished by 3.

It might have been better if you had worded it the min wage rising to whatever but not too high because YOU have to live + as well.LOL

good advice i'll put that when advertising next, hopefully better response. when it gets to the point of labor earning more than me per job it will be time to hand up the chainsaws.
