Surely its still more important to get the cuts and practical aspects like sharpening right. So long as you know that TPO's, felling licenses, Conservation Areas, etc exist and you need to ask about them you should be OK. You're being assessed on your competence to fell trees and work a chainsaw, not apply for all the relevant licenses and permissions.

 

Be aware of the legal stuff, but make sure your cuts are right.

I thought this until I spoke to a couple of assessors. The way I understand it, they used to be able to pass people if they deemed them, safe and competent. But now under the new standards ( because cs30,31, etc no longer exist!) has to be based allot more on the test sheet, rather than just on ability.

hi lads got through it all okay was a slight bit nervous and some of the questions had me sweating a little but got the passes in the end and im very happy matt george was the person i had teaching me felling from the start of the course he knows his stuff and the assesors name was simon herbert. Last of all may aswell put it out there i have to complete 400 hours of work placement as part of my course so if there is any arborists/tree surgeon buisnesses in and around moulton/northampton that are looking for anybody gimme a shout because so far im struggling with a total of 0 hours
