Maybe pollard it where it has been cut before, or a bit lower. Firewood now and again each time its re-cut. Re the gutter a mesh over the top works ok...

There are many trees in the background to be enjoyed and hugged, this poor specimen one look unbearably close to a building, you would be doing it and the occupiers a kindness by getting it removed before it becomes a bigger problem.

Pollard at 6 foot! Whilst its not a brilliant specimen, it's still an ash! It may have resistance to ash die back, and so, a good stock tree, and if not, you can fell and burn it at a later date!
