i trend to do more forestry or large scale tree surgery,and i do agree with you they are 2 very different disciplines

Well said mick haha but i think forestry work is alot more tiring at the end of the day

Though I think the the answer to the OP is neither - Production handcutting/stacking to forwarder is the most physically demanding.

interesting question..My first lesson on directional cuts,step cuts in the tree specifically a dismantle i was told that a climber is peeling the tree apart using gravity...i still don,t really feel tired after doing it...more buzzed up on adrenaline. Having been a groundsman in equal measures i would still say that is the physically harder job...especially clearing a large re-pollard (commercial speed). my first work was clear felling Sitka Spruce,(felling,snedding,cross cutting and stacking) on uneven ground....That was very,very hard work!
