Cutting boards

Can you make a profit by selling boards and if so who do you sell them to?

Or are you just making them for yourself?

You can make a profit - (I hope!) - but the trouble I've found is when you try and scale things up... you can make 20 boards yourself quite easily and sell the at a show and think 'that was good!'

Try then making a few hundred using other people to do a lot of the work and retailers to sell them and profit becomes smoke on the wind!

Does anyone use proper band saw mills or do you all just just the chainsaw mills?

I use a chainsaw mounted bandsaw mill, and have hired in a large portable bandsaw mill before. There are others on this site who do too. However, this particular thread is on the Alaskan Mill sub-forum....:001_smile:

Very nice! I can see why you got one of them. Think I'll wait and get a Lucas or Peterson though...faaaar in the future. Cheers

I think I know where there is a Lucas around £3,000 mark - it's the 6" one and it's in Hants!

PM me if you're interested.
