Spent a day this week felling and skidding some timber, now just have to decide what to do with it.

Got 100 ton stacked up the farm already, my 2013/14 log shed is full now as we'll and I've got another 150 ton to fell and extract before the summer.

Only a small outfit skidding with a tractor and stacking with a loader.

Do I stockpile it up the farm to cover my next couple of years firewood production or just sell it at roadside to get an instant turnover for it?...ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359809225.492791.jpg.9ce4a9ca233643779720ab5bedb40d72.jpg

A suggestion, Stihlben, if you are serious about selling in the future.....

You may be talking to Mr Channer anyways.

To maximise your value I would sort the timber into 'processor' sizes for haulage. So cut to 2.4's and max log diameter of 300mm (1' in old money)

The 2.4 will ensure a self loader is able to use all their bays efficiently.

The remainder can be dealt with in any way you choose.

As of so far I've only been extracting timber for my own purposes its only recently that I've been thinking of selling off the excess so when I do get a few stacks to sell they shall be cut to size and processor freindly.....

i look at it as it has cost you a bit of money & time!

the price of cord is going up the price of delivery is going up

personally id sit on it for you own log sales unless you are in need of some cash to cover expeses!!
