Hi jon, i'v got the 2.4 but i have had the 2.2 on a number of occasions now when mine has gone back for servicing or faults or for when rodents have eaten there way into my fuel tank very expensive problem that one. The 2.2 when they first came out where very under powered but the last one i had a few weeks ago , a new one seemed like they had tweeked the power a bit, it actually did pull a bit more and got up to speed on the motorway. Not as good as the 2.4.

Had a 2.2 for a couple of weeks last year courtesy of BT when one of their vans crashed into the back of the old 110. I was pretty impressed with it on the main roads, got up to speed pretty quick, but found it painful on the more windy roads, constantly changing between 5th and 6th. Used to the Td5, stick it in 5th and off you go. Found the 2.2 pulled a trailer OK as well, but never did all that much towing with it. For having road tyres it did pretty well in the muck as well, TC and anti-stall help I think.

I think i'm right in saying it's the same engine as the new base model Ranger. Rated at 150hp so should have some poke. Will be interesting to see if LR get the 3.2 engine too, now thats a monster 200hp 450+nm and 28mpg on a run.
