Ifor Williams over ride for brakes when reversing

Can anyone suggest what to put in the little gap on the trailer hitch to stop brakes coming on when reversing my trailer.

Grease and check the cable is tensioned correctly? They shouldn't be that sloppy they come on when reversing...if I'm understanding you right?

A little u-shaped collar? Caravan places might sell one that fits.

 

How old is the trailer? Recent ones have auto-reverse brakes. They might need a service...

Tt105. I have been working in v muddy conditions and have just changed all the b cables and adjusted the brakes so reversing has become a self induced nightmare.

as far as i know your hitch should be spring loaded through a internal damper and on forward braking it will travel backwards thus appliying your brakes and when you release your brake pedel it should return to a neutral position to release the trailer brakes so if you say stop quick with your trailer just try to give it time to release then reverse slowly and your trailer hitch should in theory hold its own brakes off but if the brake hitch damper is worn out faulty or the hitch piston/tube is bent it wont have the travel to release the brakes keep it well greased and check its function when the trailer is being serviced.>>> PS i have had the hitch tube/piston bent it the past thus brake wont release etc
