Hydraulic extension pipes for splitter?

just remember the longer your pipes the bigger the tank has to be.

 

Not really, if the longer pipes are a permanent part of the system it will need a bit more oil, if they are removable the QR couplings will keep the extra oil in the pipes.

if you running from a tractor don't worry, enough oil flow to compensate. very rarely will it compromise what you trying to do. Don't go down the the powerpack route just run extension pipes.

If you worried about flow etc send me details of tractor you running and what revs, details of ram on splitter and I will work out your stroke cycle timings and pressure losses for you

Thanks mechtrev. I'm hoping to run it off a 1956 MF 35 when my old man gets a return valve fitted but have the option of an N plated Massey 390T or two other Masseys of similar or more HP. Will the 35 suffice do you think?

I'd love to avoid the power pack route so a max length of pipe would be a great option

I used to run a mog parked in the garage with an extension exhaust pipe going through the wall and run a splitter at the end of the farm building, about 70m away, it worked with just the same amount of power as if it was on the back of the mog.

looks like if the extension pipes are full of oil then the distance is no problem to a point. 10m pipes should be ok, might give it a go.

Yea fine no problems, if you really want to be extravagant use metal pipes for the straight work especially if you will be splitting in the same place all the time, this will help reduce friction and flexing in the piipes.

Slightly old thread but is anyone able to point me in the right direction for where I could get some of these complete with quick release couplings already fitted? Be handy to have my splitter separate from the tractor sometimes.

It was a bit back so I can't remember what i paid sorry. They are worth it though as I can have the splitter and processor hooked up at the same time.
