We have a small woodland for the thinning we are going to hire in a small tracked dumper 2 ton at £200 per week .

you can buy cracking little dumpers cheap. i have a 1 tonne highlift and its brill in woods use bin for timber and hitch longer stuff on back and haul out. and does not leave much of a footprint. as for going over garden. small compact 20hp with grass tyres will do the job and not leave any marks on lawn. unless lke now its so wet best to avoid. could wat untill warmer and cut grass while towing trailor of wood.:laugh1:

I have 7 acres to manage never been touched for 20+years I purchased an ariens ride on complete with homemade trailer for £150 and its been an absolute godsend it can probably pull about 500kg of timber out at a time. lovelly job.

what volume are you taking out as numerous trips over lawn will wreck it unless dry this will be a costly repair bill compared to value of wood . personally i would wait and hammer it in the autumn .
