You made the best choice:) my advice would be fix your foot in first...undo the band that goes accross your foot...back your heal in to the heal band and fasten over your foot...if your happy with that, fix your calf in...good'n' tight. they are a different feel to buckle straps...more like they are part of your lower leg than just strapped on...they are so well designed i find that i can just step around the tree rather than stabbing away...thats how i do it anyway...hope you like them...i thought i'd never change from Bashlins....until i discovered Gecko's:thumbup:

What's the verdict on the stine spikes ?

I'm personally not a fan of the Stein X2's mate, to me they feel bulky under foot and don't fit my leg properly. Not a massive fan of the velcro strap/fixed shape for your leg.

But saying that, my friend climbs on them and he loves them! See if you can try them before you buy.

Airstreams are my favourite boot.i love em....and i have Distel Gecko aluminium velcro top and bottom....however pairing the two aint the best combination and i have learnt to compensate because i like the comfort of the Airstreams but they don,t have a very pronounced heel compared to other boots so the spikes have to be fitted really acurately for a comfortable climb.....(IMO)
